At Empowering Roots Occupational Therapy, I offer a range of nature-based occupational therapy services that help children and families develop the skills they need to thrive. Services are designed to meet children where they are, using movement, play, and connection with the natural world to build regulation, developmental skills, confidence, and independence in everyday life.
I work with children from early childhood through age 16, alongside their families and caregivers, offering flexible options including individual therapy, small groups, parent/caregiver consultations, and school or community-based programming.
Nature-Based Occupational Therapy Services
OT Services Offered
Individual OT Sessions
One-on-one occupational therapy from early childhood through age 16 with Gayle Vardakis, MS, OTR/L. Sessions start with a complimentary parent/caregiver consultation, followed by a thorough OT evaluation, and then sessions designed to support your child and family where they are and help achieve their goals.
Group Sessions
Skill-based groups where children learn and practice social-emotional strategies, self-regulation, and peer interaction through nature-based play. These sessions help children build confidence, strengthen developmental skills, and integrate what they learn in real-time, interactive experiences.
Parent/Caregiver Support
Additional meetings are available for families already enrolled in one-on-one or group sessions. These sessions provide guidance, strategies, and support tailored to support your child need. Meetings are offered through a phone or video call, or in-person.
School & Community-based Occupational Therapy
On-site occupational therapy for schools and community programs, offering one-on-one support, small group, or class sessions tailored to the child(ren)’s developmental needs. I offer flexibility to work indoors at your location in inclement weather.
I am a private-pay provider. Families can submit superbills to their insurance if they have out-of-network benefits, and OT services are also HSA/FSA eligible, with receipts provided for reimbursement upon request.
Practicing privately allows me to focus completely on each child and family, providing individualize support tailored to your needs without the constraints of the insurance system.
“Gayle is warm, thoughtful, and has an incredible ability to understand children and meet them exactly where they are. As a parent, I felt so supported by her - she offered guidance, shared helpful insights, and always took the time to explain things in a way that made sense.
